With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a recent spike in Asian American hate crimes especially in the United States. We seek to document those instances of Asian American hate crimes in California, specifically focusing on Asian American elderly and women. The goal is to shine light on this epidemic of violence, abuse, and injustice towards elderly and women of Asian Pacific Island background. In the long-term, we hope that this platform will be used by community members to share their stories and feelings without any repercussions.
